SANTA MUERTE - dedicated to MIGUEL
I just joined a new social network, called STEEM. The sign-up process was rather complicated - it took 2 days to get in. If it wasn't for a couple of artist friends that had also recently joined, I may have given up. Lets see how it works out. Eventually I made it, and for some reason I can't explain (unless I did something wrong in the process) I was assigned the pseudonym "thermoplastic".
Anyway, this is what the top of the landing page looks like:
check it out and see what's up:
If it works out, I will be contributing on Steem and sharing on my other networks, such as Google+ and Facebook.
Visitors to my Website will notice this butt-ugly advertising from Photobucket where once my logo was shown. I am in process of correcting this in the most obvious places, but there are other images linked from Photobucket not just here, but more so on my various blogs elsewhere.
They may have sent an e-mail about it, I don't know since I rarely check my spam or promo folders. Even so, after years of having used their service and now being held for ransom to the tune of $ 399.- per year, my uncensored reaction to this is:
FUCK YOU PHOTOBUCKET!
There is a lot of discussion about this on the web, for a good example and explanation of what happened, please go to:
PhotoBucket now charges $399 for third-party hosted images
to which I added this comment:
OTTO RAPP July 21, 2017 at 6:38 pm #my reaction to this, and I only noticed on one of my websites where I repeatedly used a GIF for my logo that now shows this butt-ugly sticker. Well, FUCK YOU PHOTOBUCKET
I could have hosted my own, but was just too lazy to switch when I started my websites on Weebly. I don't need Photobucket, I have unlimited hosting on my web provider Weebly (and I can hot-link to any of it if I need to for blogs etc).
The pain in the ass is that there are so many images out in my blogs and on other sites, it will be cumbersome to replace them. But before I spend 399 bucks ..........
So please bear with me until I fix the most glaring examples (and also change my templates containing any Photobucket stuff). It will take time, and as you know, I am not a full-time webmaster, but am an artist that would sooner work in the studio than fixing things like this!
I just wish I would have known Weebly before, when I had a rather primitive site that relied on image hosting by Photobucket.
